Artisanal Espadín Mezcal Joven
Master Mezcalero
Crafted by Crispin Méndez, a skilled master mezcalero whose expertise reflects generations of mezcal-making tradition in Oaxaca.
Origin
Produced in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca, widely regarded as the heartland of mezcal, where ancestral techniques and terroir define every expression.
Agave
Made from Espadín (Agave angustifolia Haw.), carefully cultivated and harvested at optimal maturity to achieve balance, depth, and character.
Production Process
The agave is cooked in a stone-lined conical oven, using oak wood to impart subtle smoky nuances. Milling is done with a traditional Egyptian mill, followed by fermentation in pinewood vats, allowing natural yeasts to develop complexity and authenticity.
Distillation
Double distilled (2 distillations) in a copper alembic, refining the spirit while preserving its aromatic integrity and terroir-driven expression.
Tasting Notes
This mezcal presents a firm body with bright, lively tones. On the nose, fresh citrus aromas emerge alongside a delicate smokiness. The palate is smooth and well-balanced, revealing flavors of cooked agave, damp earth, and light smoke. The finish is clean, pleasant, and persistent, leaving a refined and harmonious impression.
